Inventors and Inventions
Our toy incursion is the perfect platform for exploring inventions, design and technology and futurism.
Recommended for Grades F–6
We bring over 40 different types of toys and arrange them into different activity stations, based on their invention, materials and design.
We examine the important role that inventors like Archimedes and Leonardo da Vinci played in design and how their ideas can be found in toys today, as well as how modern materials and inventions shape the toys of today.
Students rotate around the stations and get hands-on with the toys, experimenting with the toys, their design and invention.
Students also put their own toy together (which they may keep) and identify its features, origins, materials and energy use.
